Abstract: The practice of facility design and management has changed dramatically within the last five years. The scope of the profession, traditionally defined as the coordination of the physical workplace with the people and work of an organization, has expanded so that it now interfaces with virtually every element of a business from human resources to information systems and accounting. At the same time the technology supporting the various aspects of facility planning and management has evolved significantly and its use become increasingly pervasive. This Handbook covers the business needs, practices, and technology infrastructure of all aspects of facility planning, design, and management.
