A Strategy for Tolerancing PartsWhen tolerancing a part, the designer must determine the attributes of each feature or pattern of features and the relationships of these features with one another. In other words, what are the size, the size tolerance, the location dimensions, and the location and orientation tolerances of each feature? At what material conditions do these size features apply? Which are the most appropriate datum features? All of these questions must be answered in order to properly tolerance a part.
