PREFACEThe aims of this Sixteenth Edition are the same as those of prior editions, namely, to contain in a single volume all pertinent electrical engineering data, to be accurate and comprehensive in a technical treatment, to be of use in engineering practice (as well as in study and preparation for such practice), and, above all, to be oriented toward practical application, including the impact of economic considerations.Electrical engineering generally deals with the study and application of electricity, electronics, and electromagnetism. It first became an identifiable occupation in the late nineteenth century after commercialization of the electric telegraph and electrical power supply.
