Help with Personal Account Features
These features are only available to subscribers who are logged into their personal account.
Starred ItemsA starred item acts much like the 'bookmark' or 'favorite' function within most web browsers by storing links to pages of content for easy retrieval at a later time. You are able to add a 'star' to any AccessEngineering content page. Starred pages are stored within the My Account page.
- When a page can be starred, an outlined star appears
- Click in the star and it becomes filled
- The page is now stored in your list of starred items
Labels are used to sort and classify content. You add items to predefined labels by using the 'Apply label' feature that appears at the top of content pages. A drop-down menu shows your existing labels (if any) and links to both manage and add labels.
Saved Searches and Alerts
After saving a search, a checkbox appears that enables you to create an email alert tied to the saved search. If you check this box, AccessEngineering will send you an email when new content is added to the site that matches your search parameters. You can also delete a saved search at any time.
When your go to the Saved Search page within My Account, searches with new content since your last visit are indicated by a 'New' flag.
Annotated ItemsAccessEngineering lets you make virtual reference notes - like scribbles in the margin of a printed book. The site currently allows two different types of annotation and stores these within My Account.
Text AnnotationsIf you drag the cursor over a block of text within any content page, the text is highlighted and a box appears into which you can type notes or "annotations". These notes are then saved on the Annotations & Pins page within My Account for later reference. A Download button is also available from this page, enabling you to download all of your notes to a .csv file.
NB: Text annotation functionality is not currently available on mobile devices.
Push Pins for Interactive GraphsInteractive graphs allow you to place and save push pins on a data point on the graph. You do this by dragging the blue crosshairs around the graph and then using the 'Drop Pin' button. To add a note onto a pin, place the cursor over it until a text box appears into which you can type. Pins are saved instantly to the Annotations & Pins page within My Account.
