Types of Arteries
Types of ArteriesAlthough arteries have the same general structure, they can be divided into groups by their specific functional characteristics. The three types of arteries discussed in this chapter are elastic arteries, muscular arteries, and arterioles.
Elastic Arteries Elastic arteries have the largest diameter of the three groups of arteries. The aorta is a good example of an elastic artery.
