<emphasis role="bold">Introduction</emphasis> Use of biocatalysts helps to carry out chemical processes in mild reaction conditions and with a high degree of selectivity. Synthesis of chiral drugs with the help of enzymes or preparation of chiral pharmaceuticals through biotransformations are already accepted methodologies. Lipases, esterases, oxidoreductases, and so on act as useful biocatalysts for the synthesis of chiral drugs.
