About the AuthorWillem van Meurs obtained his MSc degree in electrical engineering at the Eindhoven University of Technology in 1987, and his doctorate in control engineering from Paul Sabatier University, Toulouse, France, in 1991. At the University of Florida, from 1992 to 1998, he was coinventor of the Human Patient Simulator, commercialized by Medical Education Technologies, Inc. (METI), Sarasota, Florida. As a consultant to METI, from 1998 to the present, he was codeveloper of the simulators: PediaSIM®, BabySIM®, iStan®, and METIman™, as well as of the Muse™ software. He was an invited associate professor of applied mathematics at the University of Porto from 1998 to 2001. He was president of the Society in Europe…
