10101031030700Model RequirementsIn this chapter we introduce a stepwise approach to the modeling and simulation process and present the first step: How to set requirements for a model of the system under study. Qualitative aspects of model design include the input-output variables, conditions to be represented, structures and functions to be included, and the type of model to be used. Quantitative aspects include ranges, resolutions, and bandwidths of input and output variables. Additional requirements address how a model needs to be implemented, and how input and output variables need to be interfaced to the environment.
