Among his books is Bioinformatics: Sequence Alignment and Markov Models (McGraw-Hill, 2009). He has earned three degrees in chemical engineering—a B.Tech from the Indian Institute of Technology, Chennai, and an M.S. and a Ph.D. from West Virginia University, Morgantown. Dr. Sharma has held a number of high-level positions at engineering colleges and universities. He currently is an adjunct professor in the Roy G. Perry College of Engineering at Prairie View A&M University in Prairie View, Texas.
